I began painting in April of 2002. It all happened so out of the air. With
the advice of a good friend, when I mentioned that I think I wanted to
try painting, he said "What's stopping you?, Go for it." So I went down to
the art store and bought $16 worth of art supplies. Since I didn't know
anything about painting, I basically guessed on what I thought I needed.
Later I found out that I was right, and in fact I bought the wrong supplies.
Yet it was a good way to spark the interest.
After completing my first painting on April 30th 2002 from my imagination, I felt the painting bug. I was hooked and I didn't even know what was going to happen next. I then did a few more which was from life with a very primitive folk art style. I was painting plein air, yet I had never heard of it at that time in my life.
My concern was although I loved the way the paint felt sweeping across the canvas and watching it develop before my eyes, I was afraid that I could never make it happen again. My problem was that I didn't know what I was doing or understand anything about painting. But hidden deep inside of me from my childhood growing up in New York, seeing sidewalk shows, and hanging up artwork in the hallways of the apartment building I grew up in was the love for creating art. I hope to share the knowledge I gained with others through reasonably priced private and group lessons.
